New Collection Preview by MONTBLANC

The release of a new Montblanc collection is always a great event to which everyone would like to attend to. From October 22nd to 25th, the luxury watch and leather goods manufacturer has taken up residence in Surfside, Miami, in order to introduce its exclusive new products to 90 selected persons. This conference occurred several months before the opening of the 29th edition of SIHH in Geneva, the International Trade Fair for Haute Horlogerie, on next January 2019. Let’s have a review of this much elegant and inspiring event on the theme Vintage / Heritage, that took place in some of Miami’s Uptown Beachtown’s most high-end venues.

Montblanc was born in 1906 in Hamburg, Germany, under the name of Simplo.Filler Pen Co. Its activity centered on creating exquisite fountain pens that would never leak. In 1909, the trademark Montblanc was registered, followed by the “Snow Peak” emblem in 1913. In 1924, business moved to the next level as Montblanc created the Meisterstück, later known as Power Pen, the most renowned fountain pen in the world, which would soon be featured with the number 4810 – referring to the Montblanc mountain’s height – engraved on its nib.

The first diversification occurred in 1935, as Montblanc became the owner of a small leather goods manufacturer located in Offenbach. The company could from now on create its own luxury universe for the culture and writing industry. The launch of the first watches occurred in 1997 when the brand founded Montblanc Montre S.A. in Switzerland. Since then, the luxurious watches continue to marvel numerous worldwide purchasers, among which the most enthusiastic buyers, who entered the Club 4810. This special event in Miami was made specially for them.

If you were looking for sun, pristine beaches, delicious cuisine and above all, a top-of-the-range experience, Surfside will meet your expectations. Located between Bal Harbour and Miami Beach, the city is all about simple pleasures mixing luxurious accommodations with beach lifestyle. The idyllic oceanfront suited well this Montblanc event, as our strategy was based on selecting 3 very high-end venues in order to perfectly fit with the brand’s products upper-high quality:

  • The Saint Regis Surfside for Montblanc’s staff
  • The Four Seasons Surfside for the guests
  • Indian Creek Country Club for the conferences

As mentioned above, the purpose of this event was to introduce the new Montblanc watch collection to the journalists who are members of the 4810 Club. This preview occurred right before the launch of SIHH.

Arrived on Monday, the international guests started with a welcome dinner at Smith & Wollensky in South Pointe Beach, enjoying premium seafood on the elegant outdoor deck.

The first conference began on Tuesday morning at Indian Creek Country Club with a preview and a test of the new watches. After lunching in the courtyard with a view on the Biscayne Bay, the attendees experienced a boat tour at Haulover Marina, exploring Miami’s skyline bathed in the late October sun. The day ended with a royal dinner on the Four Season Surfside’s terrace.

After a second conference on Wednesday at Indian Creek Country Club, a photo shoot with the unreleased watches and some interviews, the guests went back to South Pointe Beach to taste another hotspot for exquisite seafood, the Joe’s Stone Crab restaurant – created in 1913, just like the “Snow Peak” Montblanc emblem.

It was then time for the last surprise of this event: a vintage car tour with some rare and elegant oldtimers, which would bring the attendees to Ball and Chain in Little Havana specially bought out for the night. They enjoyed there a beautiful Salsa Party while tasting all the specialties of the famous bar, and had fun with a new entertaining tool that you might see later during meetings: the Magic Mirror Miami photobooth!
