Danone North America is one of the largest food and beverage companies in the U.S., with manufacturing operations spanning multiple states. The Minster, Ohio plant is part of Danone’s broader operations network, producing products under brands including STok Cold Brew and International Delight. In 2026, Danone’s Operations team launched the Danone Connect World Ops Tour – a series designed to bring senior leadership directly to plant teams and celebrate the people behind the operation. The Minster Employee Appreciation Event was one stop on that tour, building on the success of a similar program VIBE had delivered for Danone in Jacksonville.

THE ASK

Danone wanted to say thank you to the Minster plant team in a way that felt genuinely local – not a generic corporate party, but something that reflected the town, the people, and the work they do every day. The brief called for an activation that could reach up to 500 employees across day and night shifts over three days, covering both the plant floor and the corporate offices on site.

The constraints were real. Plant employees have 30-minute breaks, so every touchpoint had to be fast, easy to join, and worth the walk. Minster is a small town with limited local suppliers. Danone also set a firm brand rule: only Danone products at the coffee bar, no outside creamers or dairy. And with an outdoor setup in Ohio in September, weather was an acknowledged risk going in.

THE ANSWER

The central idea was to celebrate Minster by Minster. Working with the plant team, VIBE and Danone co-created a signature coffee bar menu named entirely after the town and its people, made exclusively with Danone brands including STok Cold Brew and International Delight. The Dave Merritt, a bold cold brew named after a plant team member with his blessing. The Minster Oktoberfest Blend, a pumpkin spice coffee inspired by the town’s most celebrated annual tradition. Route 66 Cold Brew, named after the road every Minster employee drives. Each recipe was printed and framed at the bar so employees could read the story behind their cup.

Alongside the coffee bar, a food truck served hot meals during every shift break, communicated to staff in advance so no one had to bring lunch or dinner those days. VIBE sourced and shipped 500 branded Owala tumblers, polos, aprons, and branded table linens, tracked through a shared shipping inventory so the plant team always knew what was arriving and when. A custom Thank You Minster Team sign and branded photo backdrop gave employees a moment to celebrate together and gave Danone content to carry forward.

The activation ran under a single outdoor tent, steps from the plant entrance, so employees could get a coffee, a meal, and a gift within a single 30-minute break. VIBE managed both the plant and the corporate offices throughout the three days, moving the team between sites to ensure every location and every shift got the same experience. Turnout exceeded expectations: roughly 90 employees joined the first evening shift and more than 80 the next, with steady participation through the final shift.

THE VIBE

The heart of the event was not the tent or the coffee menu – it was the time Danone executives spent on the floor with their employees. Senior leadership was present throughout all three days, handing out gifts personally and spending real time with plant teams who rarely meet senior management face to face. VIBE’s job was to create the conditions for that to happen: a space that felt welcoming, a program that ran on time, and a guest experience smooth enough that the executives could focus entirely on the people in front of them.

What the employees never saw: travel disruptions that pushed the team’s arrival to late at night, a severe storm on the drive from Cincinnati, and a backdrop frame that never arrived and was rebuilt the morning of the event from materials sourced at a local Home Depot. None of it reached the guests. As the VIBE project lead put it, the start was chaotic – but nothing like the event itself.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Employee appreciation events land hardest when they feel local, not corporate. Naming the coffee drinks after the town, the plant, and the people who work there transformed a standard activation into something employees actually talked about.
  • Shift-based programming requires relentless operational precision. When break windows are 30 minutes, every element – coffee bar, food truck, swag station – has to be positioned, staffed, and ready before the first person arrives.
  • Executive presence is the most powerful element you can put in an employee event. VIBE’s role was to make it easy for leadership to be present, by removing every logistical friction between them and their teams.
  • Pre-event communication to plant staff drove turnout. Letting employees know in advance that meals were covered on those days meant they arrived expecting the experience, not discovering it by chance.
  • Contingency planning is not optional for outdoor activations in variable climates. Having a rain protocol agreed with the plant team in advance meant the event ran through wet conditions without a single disruption visible to guests.
  • Repeat business is the strongest endorsement. Danone confirmed Part 2 in Minster for April 2027 before the September activation had even closed out.
