Many major cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Atlanta have announced they will be rolling back some of their previous re-openings as pockets of new COVID-19 cases continue to rise in certain areas. It has led businesses and event organizers to look in new directions for in-person gatherings that simply cannot be recreated digitally. “Sharing of sensitive financial information, executive board votes, mergers, and other face-to-face business functions still have to happen,” says Valerie Bihet, Founder and Principal at VIBE Agency. “There are still a lot of choices for live events that offer excellent venues, services, amenities, and more – but because they’re less trafficked, they also provide more options these days for social distancing.”

A view of a rocky mountain in Boulder CO

Boulder, CO – for example, has long been known for its outdoor lifestyle, charming-yet-uncrowded downtown shopping and business district, and four-star and five-star hotel properties overlooking the Rocky Mountains. Just 30 minutes outside of Denver, Boulder’s friendly nature and laid-back spirit is a breath of fresh air for any gathering.

Palm tree on a beach in the Florida Keys

The Florida Keys, FL – not to be confused with the rest of Florida, the small island chain at the southern end of the state has been limiting access for day-to-day non-residents. Its low population density makes for ideal spacing in hotels, restaurants, and on beaches, but unique options for events include aboard a yacht or catamaran for really “getting away from it all.” Fly directly into Key West International Airport to bypass more crowded airports such as Miami or Fort Lauderdale.

Palm trees next to a body of water in Palm Springs, CA

Palm Springs, CA – about an hour and a half outside of Los Angeles, but with its own international airport, the beauty of the San Jacinto mountains and the Palm Desert has made this little retreat a best-kept-secret in California for decades. Warm days and cool evenings year-round, chic luxury hotels, and some of the world’s best examples of mid-century-modern architecture make for an always-impressive meeting spot.

Mackinac Harbor in Mackinac Island MI

Mackinac Island, MI – accessible only by boat or ferry, with no cars allowed on the island, this historic treasure on Lake Huron has been a beacon for “isolation done right” since the 1800s. Beautiful independent inns and hotels, gorgeous waterfront dining establishments, sailing, fishing, watersports, and a delightfully relaxed pace with entertainment and activities available May through October each year.
